The Johnson & Wales Graphic Solutions Team (GST) had three meetings with Roger Williams Middle School's eighth grade class. During the first meeting, the J&W students visited the RWMS building to present them with disposable Kodak digital cameras, and to teach them the basics of photography (see the PowerPoint presentation the students assembled.) The GST Team had also taken some photos on their own with a camera, and showed those to the Roger Williams students, who enjoyed that part of the presentation the most. Everyone broke into groups so the college students could give the eighth graders some photography tips and talk over how difficult it can be to get good shots with disposable cameras!

GST asked the Roger Williams students to take photos in four categories:
1. People
2. Outdoors (city and nature)
3. Action
4. Macro (close-up)

The cameras were collected from the RWMS students around Christmas. During J&W's second visit, the GST team members presented three website design concepts they'd come up with. (All members of the class had created designs, and the class had narrowed them down by voting.) The RWMS students picked their favorite (which is the design you see!) GST team members then paired off with RWMS students to help them to write about themselves and the experience of taking photos, to include on the site (See this info on the Students page.)

On Feb 12th the RWMS students came to visit us in the Academic building, home of the School of Technology. GST presented the students with the final website and showed them their pictures, live on the web! (They also got a tour of our building for their trouble.)
